Thousands Hit In Early Morning Power Outage
BOSTON (WBZ) ―
About 60,000 customers lost power early Wednesday morning north of Boston.
National Grid said there was a problem with a transmission line.
According to the power company, it started shortly after 6 a.m. and lasted about 15-to-20 minutes in parts of Revere, Everett, Malden, Medford, and Melrose.
One WBZ viewer told us the outage was longer. "It was actually out for 1 hour, and went out at exactly 5:25AM this morning and did not come back on until 6:27am," Colleen from Everett wrote us.
Christine from Melrose had a similar experience.
"I can tell you that the power went out just before 5:30am, and did not go back on for one hour," she wrote in an email. "Had to take a shower in the dark!!!!"
Several traffic lights went out briefly.
There was also a 30-minute delay on the Orange Line.
