4 Women Accused Of Stealing Over $50K In PTO Funds

NEW BEDFORD (WBZ) ― Four New Bedford women are accused of embezzling over $55,000 from PTO funds at four different New Bedford Schools, police said.

Kathryn Larochelle, 43, Tracy Carreiro, 26, Dedra Leandre, 33, and Judith Souza, 42, all of New Bedford, have been charged with larceny by embezzlement over $250 for stealing thousands of dollars each -- $12,830, $2,593, $1,800 and $38,596 respectively.

According to police, the thefts started in 2003.

If convicted, all four women could face a $25,000 penalty and up to five years in prison.
