Retired Trooper Charged With Possessing Pot

NAHANT (WBZ) ― A retired State trooper was arrested Wednesday afternoon and was charged with possessing and intending to sell marijuana, Nahant police officials said.

After issuing a search warrant at his Nahant home Wednesday and finding two pounds of marijuana, Trooper Marvin McKinnon was arrested. He's charged with possession of marijuana, possession with intent to distribute and cultivating marijuana.

Neighbors say they tipped police off after smelling a strong odor of pot and noticing many people coming and going at the house.

According to State police, 49-year-old McKinnon retired in October 2002.

He is scheduled to be arraigned in Lynn District Court Thursday morning.
