1 Dead In Tractor-Trailer Crash On 495

CHELMSFORD (WBZ) ― One driver was killed and another injured in a crash involving a tractor-trailer and two other vehicles on Interstate 495 in Chelmsford Thursday morning.

The victim was identified as Charles Butzer, 67.

According to State Police, a woman driving on 495 North lost control of her car, hitting a tractor-trailer driving in the lane beside her. The truck then crashed through the guardrail, across the median and onto 495 South into oncoming traffic.

The truck crashed head-on into a 2004 Chevrolet Silverado pickup driven by Butzer. 

The driver of the tractor-trailer, 46-year-old Jody Anderson of Millville, N.J., received minor injuries. The driver of the initial car that lost control, Kaitlyn Driscoll, 22, of Fitchburg, was not injured. 

All lanes of 495 South were closed for nearly two-and-a-half hours, beginning at about 10 a.m.
