Tanker Accident Shuts Down Route 93 South
WOBURN, Mass. (WBZ) ―
A tanker truck accident shut down all lanes of Route 93 south in Woburn during rush hour Wednesday morning.
State Police have not released any details about the crash, which happened just after 8 a.m.
According to WBZ's Rich Kirkland, the tanker was travelling on 93 north, went through a barrier, crossed onto 93 south, crashed, narrowly missed oncoming traffic and then blocked the entire highway. Kirkland said the truck did not roll over.
State Trooper Thomas Murphy said there was no fire and no leak from the tanker following the accident.
The driver was hurt, but Kirkland reported that the injuries were minor.
All lanes south of the Montvale Avenue exit were closed for a short time after the crash.
