Woman Killed In Rt. 290 Crash

AUBURN (WBZ) ― One person is dead after a crash on Route 290 East in Auburn Tuesday night.

According to police, Jennifer Songer, 29, of Worcester, lost control of the car she was driving, drove off the road and crashed in a wooded area around 9 p.m.

Songer was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. Her passenger, Travis Songer, 29, of Worcester, was taken to UMass Medical Center, where he is being treated for serious injuries.

The right lane of Route 290 East was closed for three hours while crews investigated the crash.

The cause of the accident is not known.
