Sailor Apparently Drowns In North Shore Waters
IPSWICH (AP) ―
Police say the death of an 81-year-old sailor whose body was found in Plum Island Sound was an probably an accident.
Bryan Denman apparently drowned on Monday after falling into the water while trying to board his 40-foot sailing sloop from a dinghy.
A lobsterman found the Hamilton man's body just after 1:30 p.m.
Ipswich police Lt. Dan Moriarty tells the Salem News that Denman took his dinghy from the dock at the
Ipswich Bay Yacht Club in the morning bound for his boat moored in the sound. At 10:36 a.m., Denman's wife called police to say she had lost sight of her husband and the dinghy was adrift.
Moriarty says the death does not appear suspicious but an investigation is continuing.
