Mass. Seniors Warned Of State Security Breach
BOSTON (AP) ―
Thousands of senior citizens are being warned about a computer security breach involving Massachusetts's Prescription Advantage program.
Officials say the problem appears to be limited to a small number of members enrolled in the prescription drug insurance plan.
Executive Office of Health and Human Services spokeswoman Alison Goodwin wouldn't say what kind of personal information may have been compromised, such as names, addresses or Social Security numbers.
Officials say letters have been sent to about 150,000 current or former members of the program warning them about the breach and urging them to monitor their credit card, bank statements and credit reports for any irregular activity.
Goodwin says the person authorities believe committed the breach has been arrested, but she would not identify the suspect.
