A construction worker trying to outrace a meter maid ended up getting shot in the head by his own nail gun Thursday morning.
The unidentified man was working on an addition to a home on Chappie Street when he apparently saw a meter maid coming to ticket his car.
As he rushed down a ladder, his nail gun went off. A three inch nail was embedded in his head near one of his ears.
The 46-year-old man from Lowell was taken to Massachusetts General Hospital for treatment of what police say are "non-life threatening injuries."
The nail gun was not in his hand at the time of the accident. His co-workers don't know what caused it to misfire.
