Deadly South Boston Blaze Ruled A Homicide
BOSTON (WBZ) ―
Officials have ruled the South Boston fire that killed two young sisters a homicide.
According to the Chief Medical Examiner's Office, Acia Johnson, 14, and her sister Sophia, 3, died of smoke inhalation and thermal injuries.
Officials say both girls were trapped on the top floor of their South Boston townhouse when fire ripped through the building last week.
The girls' mother, Anna Reisopoulos, and brother were hospitalized after the fire with non-life threatening injuries.
Police confirmed a report that they were summoned to the home twice in the last six months - once to investigate a claim that Reisopoulos was attacked by the father of two of her children; the other to answer a call that she allegedly assaulted another woman there.
There were reports Sunday that Reisopoulos had been heard arguing with another woman before the fire.
Boston police ask anyone with information regarding the fire to call the Crime Stoppers Tip Line at 800.494.TIPS, or the Homicide Unit at 617.343.4470.
