Wet Storm Slams Parts Of Mass. And N.H.

BOSTON (WBZ) ― Commuters experienced a wet ride home Friday evening. A storm brought heavy rain, wind, and ice to southern New England that lasted into the late night.

The National Weather Service issued an ice storm warning for eastern Franklin County in Massachusetts and for western and central Hillsborough Counties in New Hampshire.

The poor weather may be to blame for a small plane crash that claimed the lives of two people Friday evening in Maine.

Sleet was mixed with snow and eventually changed to freezing rain in several areas. Roads were slippery and there is the possibility that tree limbs and power lines could come down.

A winter weather advisory has been issued along the northern part of Interstate 495 and Route 128, because some icing is possible.

There was a wind advisory in effect for the entire coast of Massachusetts. Gusts above 40 miles per hour are expected late Friday night and into the early morning hours Saturday.

The rain was heavy for the evening commute and was expected to continue off and on until midnight. There could be up to an inch of rain by the time it's all over.

The weekend will be clear and mild with high temperatures in the 40's. Next week will start out mild and then get wet with more rain expected Tuesday and Wednesday.
