Weekend Storm Moves Through New England
BOSTON (WBZ) ―
Rain and snow could put a damper on some New Englanders' plans this weekend. While not a major storm, it could bring a couple of inches to the Boston area by Sunday.
The system moved in Saturday afternoon but is expected to taper off late in the evening and overnight into Sunday.
The Cape and Islands and the Boston area will see primarily rain once a warmer system moves in from the south. However, snow began falling around 3 p.m. in the Boston area where one to three inches could accumulate.
The storm could make for some hairy road conditions primarily north of the Mass Pike where it will be colder. Snow advisories were in effect across the state Saturday evening.
Central New Hampshire could get the worst, anywhere from three-to-six inches.
Plymouth County will have a coating to an inch.
Saturday's storm is the first of a series of systems moving across the northern part of the country and into New England over the next several days.
A second system will roll in Sunday and a third will arrive Tuesday into Wednesday and another one coming next weekend.
A strong cold front is expected to move through New England Sunday morning bringing strong winds. Southern New England could see snow squalls during the morning and early afternoon hours on Sunday. The fierce storm will be short lived.
