Sleet and freezing rain across the region have led to a series of weather alerts this afternoon.
A winter storm warning, a flood advisory, and a high wind watch are all in effect in different areas.
ADVISORIES
A
flood advisory is in effect for the Boston area and southeastern Massachusetts until 5 p.m.
There is a
high wind watch for the Cape and Islands until noon Thursday.
A
winter storm warning remains in effect for all of central and western Massachusetts until 6 a.m. Thursday.

SLEET AND FREEZING RAIN
WBZ meteorologists say snow is not the problem with this storm. It's over for now.
About one inch fell across southern New England overnight, but it has been covered with the sleet and freezing rain, which is expected to last most of the day.
There have been several accidents because of the icy conditions.
WHAT TO EXPECT
There is a chance that up to a quarter inch of ice could build up from this storm, enough to cause some power outages, but nothing like the Dec. 12 ice storm.
Communities inside Route 495 and throughout southeastern Massachusetts can expect plain rain for the rest of the day.
In Worcester County and southern New Hampshire, the sleet will change to freezing rain.

The snow and sleet will continue through the afternoon in northern New England.
There will be a small, final burst of snow showers over eastern Massachusetts this evening.
NEXT STORM
WBZ meteorologist Todd Gutner says it will be clear the rest of the week, but there could be two-to-four inches of snow coming to southern New England on Saturday.
