Man Arrested In Violent Somerville Robberies

SOMERVILLE (WBZ) ― Somerville police arrested a man they believe to be responsible for a series of violent robberies in Somerville and Cambridge. In each case a woman was robbed at knifepoint.

Vincent Anthony Primo, 40 of Medford, was arrested late Saturday, along with his girlfriend Kim Marie Szathmary, 41 of Somerville.

WBZ's Bill Shields spoke with one of Primo's alleged victims on Monday. "I struggled with him, and I wasn't severely injured, but to hear what he did to the others, especially with the drug record," said "Joanne" as she described what happened when she was attacked last week.

"It was very surreal, and I'm just happy that I'm OK… That I got away from him without any injuries."

Primo is charged in three armed robberies in Somerville last week, and is being investigated for four others in Cambridge. "Each one of the attacks, he used a knife or a screw driver to make that threat," explained Somerville Police Captain Charles Femino.

In one robbery last Monday, Primo is accused of stabbing a woman in the chest. He faces additional charges for allegedly robbing a second woman that same day, and robbing another woman on Wednesday.

Police say Primo would give Szathmary the stolen credit cards after the alleged robberies. She allegedly maxed out one victim's credit card buying bags-full of electronics.

Primo has been arrested 38 times in his life and has been convicted over a dozen times.
