3 Arrested In Somerville Armed Bank Robbery
SOMERVILLE (WBZ) ―
Three suspected bank robbers were behind bars Tuesday night thanks to two observant police officers.
Somerville police officials say the accused robbers used a gun to hold up an East Cambridge Savings bank in Somerville Tuesday afternoon.
About one hour later, two Boston police officers working a construction detail in Charlestown recognized the car used as a getaway vehicle in the robbery and pulled it over.
When the officers reached the vehicle, the three men tried to run away, police say. But back-up officers managed to catch up with them and take them into custody.
The suspects are identified as 42-year-old James Rigano, of Malden, 20-year-old Erick Leonard, of Everett, and 19-year-old Terrence Dunnells, of Cambridge.
Police say two of the men are suspected of being involved in two other recent bank robberies.
All three men will be arraigned in Somerville District Court on Wednesday.
