3 Arrested In South Boston Stabbing Death

BOSTON (WBZ) ― Three men have been arrested in connection with the June stabbing death of a 27-year-old man in South Boston.

Lynn resident Edward Holloman, 19, and 34-year-old Edward Mendez, of Jamaica Plain, were arrested last week and are being held on assault charges in the stabbing death of Curtis Ashford.

A third man, 19-year-old Darren Hemingway, of Brighton, was charged as an accessory after the fact to Ashford's murder.

Boston police said Holloman and Mendez got into a fight with Ashford on East 8th Street. During the fight, Mendez gave Holloman a weapon and told him to stab Ashford, prosecutors allege.

Police say Holloman stabbed Ashford several times in the chest and stomach and then, with Mendez and Hemingway, assaulted another man. Police allege that Hemingway drove the other suspects away from the scene and then helped hide them during the aftermath of Ashford's killing.

Holloman and Mendez are scheduled to be arraigned Tuesday and Wednesday on murder charges in South Boston District Court. Hemingway's arraignment has not yet been set.
