Trooper Hurt In Crash Out Of Hospital

WEST BOYLSTON (AP) ― A Massachusetts State Police trooper seriously injured when his cruiser was struck from behind by another vehicle in a construction zone has been released from the hospital.

A spokeswoman for UMass Memorial Medical Center-University Campus in Worcester tells The Telegram & Gazette that trooper David Matte was released on Wednesday.

Police say Matte was working a construction detail on Interstate 190 in West Boylston on Tuesday when his cruiser was hit.

The vehicle then struck the trooper standing nearby.

The driver of the car that hit the cruiser was identified as 46-year-old Sandra Konkle of West Boylston.

Police say she jumped from her car before it hit the cruiser.

She was listed in fair condition Wednesday.

The crash remains under investigation.
