State Trooper Injured When Hit On Route 128

NEEDHAM (WBZ) ― A state trooper was recovering at a hospital Thursday night after his cruiser was rear-ended on Route 128 in Needham.

The crash happened on the northbound side near Great Plain Avenue. It's not clear if the cruiser was stopped at the time, but it was pushed into the median by the impact.

The trooper was rushed to Beth Israel Hospital in Needham.

There's no word on his condition.

The center and left travel lanes were closed for a time Thursday night.

The crash is under investigation.
