Flemmi Expected To Finish Testimony In Mob Trial

MIAMI (AP) ― A former Boston mobster will take the stand for the third day in the murder trial of former FBI agent John Connolly.

Defense attorneys are expected to finish their cross-examination of Stephen "The Rifleman" Flemmi on Wednesday. Flemmi is serving a life sentence in the federal prison system's witness protection program.

Flemmi already has testified that mobsters gave Connolly roughly $235,000 over the years for protection and information.

The 68-year-old Connolly is on trial for allegedly helping orchestrate the 1982 killing in Miami of a former president of World Jai-Alai who had close ties to the gang.

Connolly is already serving a 10-year federal prison sentence on racketeering and other charges. He faces life in prison if convicted of state charges in the current case.
