There's a new resident hanging around at the
Stone Zoo.
Kien Nhan, an 8-year-old white-cheeked gibbon, made his exhibit debut on Thursday. The zoo's gibbon exhibit opened in June.
Kien joins another gibbon, Iggy, at the zoo. Iggy is a 9-year-old female who joined the Stone Zoo in June. The two haven't been placed together yet. Zookeepers are waiting for Kien to get used to his surroundings before he gets introduced to his new friend.

Zoo New England President John Linehan says they're excited for the two gibbons to finally be placed together in the exhibit.
"Gibbons are social animals so it was very important for us to provide this type of companionship for Iggy," he said.
Zookeepers hope that Kien and Iggy will be on exhibit together by the end of next week.
Gibbons are endangered animals native to Southeast Asia. They typically weigh between 12 and 16 pounds, are monogamous and are considered extremely active animals.
Prior to the new exhibit's opening, the last time Stone Zoo exhibited apes was in the early 1990s.
