A single car accident on Storrow Drive has left several people seriously injured.

According to state police, the accident happened around 7:30 p.m. on the westbound side of Storrow Drive near the BU Bridge.

When emergency crews arrived, a Lexus sedan was seen up against a guardrail on the side of the roadway.

Two people were rushed to New England Medical Center and two others were taken to Mass. General. The victims' exact injuries are not yet known. Police would only say serious injuries have been reported.

The cause of the accident is still under investigation.
