Mass. Launches Web Site To Help Students Get Loans
BOSTON (WBZ) ―
Massachusetts is launching a new state Web site to help students looking for education loans.
The action follows the announcement this week by a state lending authority that it won't be able to offer the bulk of its loans this year.
The Massachusetts Educational Financing Authority provided more than $500 million worth of college financing last year, but said it would not provide private loans this year because of turmoil in the financial markets.
Gov. Deval Patrick said the new Web site provides answers and assistance on education loans for students and their families.
The site describes loans that are still available, and provides links to other sites that can compare different private loan rates.
