Three of the four top candidates for president made appearances in Massachusetts on the eve of Super Tuesday.
The only one of the four who was not here Monday is former Gov. Mitt Romney, who will return Tuesday to vote in the primary and then await the results of elections around the country.
Republican John McCain appeared Monday morning at a Faneuil Hall rally with a number of his local supporters, including former Govs. Paul Cellucci and Jane Swift. Cellucci threw his backing behind McCain after Rudy Giuliani dropped out of the presidential race last week.
On the Democratic side, Hillary Clinton met with supporters Monday afternoon at Clark University in Worcester.
Barack Obama appeared late last night at the Seaport World Trade Center in Boston. Joining the Illinois senator will be three of his local high-profile supporters, Sens. Edward Kennedy and John Kerry and Gov. Deval Patrick.
The polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday across Massachusetts.
Secretary William Galvin is predicting a heavy turnout, saying more than 30 percent of the electorate may show up at the polls.
He says most voters will likely cast ballots in the Democratic primary and that the GOP primary should also draw high numbers.
Galvin says most independent voters will likely end up casting ballots in the Democratic race, since many have historic ties to the party.
