Northeastern Nixes Handshakes Amid Swine Flu Scare
BOSTON (WBZ) ―
Northeastern University has decided to nix handshakes at its graduation ceremony Friday as a precaution amid a swine flu outbreak.
The school sent a letter to all graduating students saying because such a large group of people will be at the ceremony, many of whom are traveling from all over the world, it has decided to forego the traditional congratulatory handshakes.
The university will also provide hand sanitizer at both ceremonies.
It asked people experiencing flu-like symptoms to not attend the ceremony.
