Meyer's Mom Speaks Out To Prevent More Tragedy

ATTLEBORO (WBZ) ― It has only been five months since Kathi Meyer lost her daughter, Taylor Meyer.  But the grieving mother is now sharing her pain to save other kids.

Taylor drowned in a swamp after an underage drinking party in October.

"They found my Taylor in 24 inches of water face down," Kathi said.

So Kathi is speaking to students and parents in the area about the dangers of drinking. She was in Attleboro Tuesday night where her words were tough, emotional and raw.

"When they found her she had scratches on her hands and brusies up to her elbows," she said. "Her legs were all black and blue, and she had lost her shoes."

It is a brutal and disturbing account of her daughter's death. It's not something you'd expect to hear from a woman who just recently lost her child.

But she told the crowd at the high school she has to do this to save their kids and prevent them from standing in her shoes.

And the message is getting across.

Student Kelsey Mcafree says, "It hurts a lot just thinking that could be my mom."

Kathi stressed if she had only asked more questions or looked at Taylor's Facebook page, which was filled with party listings and underage drinking photos, she could still be alive.
