Storms Knock Out Power To Thousands In Worcester

WORCESTER (WBZ) ― Intense thunderstorms moved through Worcester County Thursday afternoon, knocking out power to thousands in the area.

A National Grid spokesperson said about 4,000 customers were without power in Worcester County. Some 3,000 of the outages were in Dudly alone.

By 10:30 p.m., crews had restored power to all but 230 customers.

Two intense, severe thunderstorms moved across the state, WBZ's Ken Barlow said. One moved east through the southern portion of Massachusetts while the other was to the north in Fitchburg.

A tornado warning was issued for a time in Worcester Country but was cancelled around 3:15 p.m.
