Some environmental vandals went to painstaking efforts to undo some of the good performed on Arbor Day. Over the weekend 18 newly planted trees were uprooted at the Shirley Street Playground in Roxbury.
The vandalism was discovered by WBZ-TV photographer Nat Whittemore.
Fifty trees were planted a little more than a week ago to mark Arbor Day.
The vandalism was reported to Boston Police, who are now investigating.
