Tree Falls, Kills Trick-Or-Treater In NH

A 10-year-old Pelham, New Hampshire boy who apparently was trick-or-treating in a New Hampshire neighborhood was killed after a tree snapped near its base and struck him.

Pelham Fire Department officials said Christian Gualtieri was walking on Fineview Circle when a birch tree broke about four feet from its base and hit the child. Gualtieri went into cardiac arrest. He was taken to a Lowell, Mass., hospital, where he died.

Neighbors told a New Hampshire TV station Gualtieri was out trick-or-treating Saturday.

It was not immediately known what caused the tree to break.
