Allston U-Turn Ramp May Soon Open To Public

BOSTON (WBZ) ― The Massachusetts Turnpike Authority says the U-turn ramp at the Allston tolls could soon be available to the general public, according to Turnpike Authority executive director Alan LeBovidge.

The $1.6 million dollar project opened in October to buses and taxis and was designed to ease travel between Back Bay hotels and destinations such as Logan Airport and the Boston convention center.

The Turnpike Authority designed the ramp to handle 2,000 vehicles a day, but only a few dozen appear to be using the ramp, and many of those illegally.

According to LeBovidge, the ramp should soon be available to drivers with Fast Lane passes. The dollar amount for the U-turn ramp has not been decided.
