Are Unsolved Mass. Murders Work Of Serial Killer?

Several Slayings in Essex County Get A New Look

SALEM, Mass. (AP) ― Prosecutors are taking another look at some unsolved killings of young women that are the subject of a nonfiction book published earlier this year.

In his book, Needham attorney and former Suffolk County prosecutor Timothy Burke links the deaths of eight young Boston-area women three decades ago to a Revere fish dealer who died in prison in February.

Lenny "The Quahog" Paradiso was serving a life sentence for the 1979 rape and murder of a 20-year-old East Boston woman. Burke prosecuted the case.

Paradiso always maintained his innocence and was never charged in any other cases.

Steve O'Connell, a spokesman for the Essex District Attorney's office, said Friday prosecutors are reviewing "several files based on attorney Burke's recommendations to us." Bodies of several victims cited in Burke's book were found in Essex County.
