Thief Gets Away With Church Collection Money
WATERTOWN (WBZ) ―
Police are looking for a thief who robbed a Watertown church on Sunday.
According to police, the incident happened sometime after 7:30 a.m. at the Sacred Heart Parish.
The suspect got away with two bags filled with money. It is unclear how much money was inside each bag.
A priest at the church tells WBZ he went to put away collection money from the 10 a.m. mass and found the cabinet that holds the money torn apart. "It's a sad state in our society," said Father Joe Curran. "People are so desperate, they have to rob churches."
Father Curran believes the money was taken between masses.
