Wellesley Bank In Bomb Hoax Hit Again

WELLESLEY (WBZ) ― Wellesley bank that was hit one month ago by a robber, who police say staged a bomb hoax to act as a diversion, has been targeted again.

Wellesley police can't say if Friday's robbery at the Bank of America is related to the March 26 incident at the same bank.

Police said the masked robber, described as being 6 feet tall, did have a gun. The FBI is involved in the investigation, however, officials said it's too early in the investigation to know if Friday's robber is connected to others.

Last month, the bank at 342 Washington St was robbed by a man who police say also robbed a Needham bank one week later. In both robberies, the armed robber left a suspicious device in an apparent attempt to distract police while he fled the scene.

Police are offering a $32,500 reward for information leading to an arrest in those cases.

Elsewhere, police are investigating a robbery at a Waltham bank on Thursday.

Just prior to the robbery, a call came in claiming that there were two males in the Waltham High School parking lot carrying rifles. Police later determined the call to be a "hoax."

It is unclear if the call was connected to the robbery.
