Weymouth Police Chief Jim Thomas has retired after being placed on paid administrative leave nearly four months ago.
He is accused of making inappropriate comments to a female employee and of giving her a sexually explicit cakes on her birthday.
His retirement went into effect Thursday, and he has filed for retirement benefits.
Thomas has been a member of the Weymouth Police Department for more than 30 years.
Sources say some officers were celebrating a female employee's birthday when Thomas announced the woman would be performing at Club Alex's, a strip club in Stoughton. Sources say Thomas also provided the woman with a sexually explicate cake.
The town hired an outside agency to help with the investigation.
