A Worcester music teacher is accused of having a sexual relationship with a 15-year-old boy and has been charged with statutory rape of a child.
Tyrone Forbes, 49, is a music teacher at 7 Hills Charter School in Worcester and is also an active member at the Mount Sinia Church of God in Christ in Worcester.
Police said the 15-year-old victim is not a student at the charter school but Forbes is a friend of the boy's family.
Police said around 1:30 a.m. Thursday an officer spotted a Ford pickup truck in the closed parking lot of Bennett Field on Main Street. The officer noticed two people inside and approached the vehicle. The officer said Forbes and the boy were inside, and when questioned, Forbes gave conflicting reasons why he was out in the field at the late hour with the teenager.
Based on information from both Forbes and the boy, police learned the two had a sexual relationship dating back to last November.
According to police, seven incidents of statutory rape were committed and Forbes was charged.
He was arraigned Thursday at Worcester Central District Court.
