Worcester Blaze Sends 2 Firefighters To Hospital

WORCESTER (WBZ) ― A 4-alarm fire sent two firefighters to the hospital Friday afternoon.

District Chief Stuart Howe told WBZ that one had trouble breathing, apparently from heat exhaustion. The other had chest pains but is said to be doing fine.

The fire apparently started in an attic apartment of the 2 1/2–story building at 20 John St. The roof eventually collapsed.

The narrow, congested street, plus heat and humidity, made the fire challenging to fight.

The cause of the fire is unknown.
