A former school bus driver is headed to court to face a charge of
leaving a 3-year-old child alone on a bus for about five hours.
Peter Quinlan of Uxbridge is scheduled to be arraigned Monday in Uxbridge District Court on one charge of reckless child endangerment.
Prosecutors allege that the 69-year-old man left the Northbridge special needs student on the bus in a parking lot for five hours after completing his morning route on May 11.
School and police officials said Quinlan picked up the little boy at 8:30 a.m., went to the Balmer Elementary School, where the boy attends pre-school, dropped off other kids and went back to the Vendetti Bus Company yard. It was not until the bus went to the high school, about 1:30, that Quinlan found the child still belted in his seat.
Quinlan has since been fired from Vendetti Bus Co., which serves the school district.
