A 25-year-old man shot himself after a several-hour standoff with police Saturday. The standoff followed the discovery of a dead woman in the suspect's bedroom Friday night.

Police say the woman, whose identity is unknown, was found dead in Ha Yang's Grove Street apartment around 7:30 p.m. Friday.

Police caught up with Yang at a Westminster hotel on Route 2A where he refused to come out. After tear gas was shot into the room late Saturday afternoon, police heard a single gunshot.

Yang was rushed to an area hospital. His condition is unknown.

An autopsy is being conducted to identify the woman and to determine the cause of her death.

No further details were immediately released.
