Boy Dies After CO Poisoning In Jeep

LUNENBURG, Mass. (WBZ) ― An autopsy is scheduled for a boy who died after suffering carbon monoxide poisoning in the woods in Lunenburg.

Alejandro Thomasian, 9, of Fitchburg, was four-wheeling Friday night with another boy and three adults when one of the vehicles got stuck.

The children stayed in the Jeep to keep warm and were later found unconscious by adults who were trying to free the vehicle.

Thomasian died Sunday.  His friend, Jobanny Matias, 11, of Leominster, remains in critical condition at Massachusetts General Hospital.

Lunenburg Police Chief Daniel Bourgeois said the initial investigation shows the incident was "a truly tragic accident."

There have been no charges at this point.
