Workers Escape Fire At Worcester Verizon Building

Worcester Firefighter Hurt In 3-Alarm Fire

WORCESTER (WBZ) ― A firefighter in Worcester was injured Wednesday night while battling a three-alarm fire at a Verizon building.

The blaze broke out around 7:30 p.m. at the six-story building near the corner of Chestnut and Elm streets.

Verizon workers were inside the building when the blaze broke out but got out safely.

One firefighter suffered a minor injury. He is expected to be OK, fire officials said.

The cause of the fire is unknown.

Verizon officials said service to customers was not affected by the blaze.
