Missing Fitchburg Woman Found Dead In Suitcase
Husband Arrested, Held Without Bail
FITCHBURG (WBZ) ―
A woman from Fitchburg who had been missing since January was found dead - her body stuffed inside a suitcase in Oxford.
Her husband was charged with her murder and ordered held without bail at a court appearance late Friday.
The Worcester District Attorney's office said the remains of 27-year-old Faiza Malik were found Thursday morning in the woods off Route 395 near Depot Road.
Malik's husband, 30-year-old Asim Amran, was arrested Thursday night.
A relative reported Malik missing January 4 and police discovered that a suitcase was missing from the couple's home. Amran told investigators it was missing because his wife was leaving him. But, relatives said she was storing items in it so she could ship them back to her family in Pakistan.
A State Police K-9 found the suitcase Thursday after investigators received a tip.
Amran will be arraigned Friday in Fitchburg District Court.
The couple has a three-year-old boy, who is now with relatives.
