Man Arrested For Stalking Several Families
YARMOUTH (WBZ) ―
A local man was arrested for stalking several families and businesses, said police Thursday.
Timothy Gaskill, 39, of Yarmouth was charged with stalking, destruction of property and tagging in Yarmouth and Dennis since Nov. of 2007.
Police said Gaskill targeted six families and two businesses.
One of the victims talked to WBZ's Beth Germano:
"What was the motive and why, what was this person capable of we just didn't know," said George Davis. "My wife often said she doesn't know if the person behind her in the grocery line is the one. We felt like we were being watched."
The crimes involved overnight spray painting of buildings, mailboxes and vehicles, slashing of tires, dumping nails in driveways and leaving threatening notes, said police.
"I think something set him off that started him on this path. What that is we don't know," said Detective Eric Nuss of the Yarmouth Police Dept. "For whatever reason he got enjoyment out of harrassing these people and it went on too long."
The estimated cost of the damages is $40,000.
Yarmouth Police expect to file 11 felony counts and Dennis Police plan to file additional charges.
Gaskill is currently being held awaiting bail. He is expected to be in court on Friday morning.
