HONG KONG (AP) ― Three U.S.-based Chinese pro-democracy activists, including one who lives in Massachusetts, have been denied entry into Hong Kong on the eve of the Beijing Olympics.

Opposition lawmaker Albert Ho tells The Associated Press that Yang Jianli -- who lives in Brookline -- as well as Wang Min and Zhou Jian arrived at Hong Kong airport yesterday ahead of a conference in Taiwan but were not allowed to enter.

Ho says immigration authorities did not explain why they denied the activists entry.

Yang, a Chinese citizen with a U.S. green card, returned to the U.S. last year after serving a five-year prison term in China on charges of spying for Taiwan and entering the country illegally.
