Teen Accused Of Robbing 7 People In 20 Minutes
FORT WORTH, Texas (CBS) ―
A North Texas teenager stands accused of robbing seven people in less than 20 minutes.
Five of the victims are teenagers themselves. They were near Riverside Middle School in Fort Worth practicing for an upcoming dance competition when they suddenly found themselves staring at a gun.
They call themselves New Edition. They are part of a hip hop dance group, and they practice almost everyday. The music suddenly stopped around 5:40 p.m. when an SUV drove up.
The driver, identified as 17-year-old David Angel, allegedly walked up to the victims, pulled a silver handgun on them and robbed all five of the teenagers. Police say two younger passengers in the SUV got out and watched.
"He had it pointed [at my hip], and I was just standing there trying to keep my cool," said one of the teens, who did not want to be identified.
"I just took out my cell phone and he said, 'I want that,'" said another teen.
"I was just like, 'Take my cell phone. It don't matter.' As long as you don't shoot me, I don't care," said another teen.
"He didn't want to leave 'cause he wanted to shoot me. He said, 'Nah. Let me just shoot him.' The other guy was like, 'Nah nah; let's go.' He was like, 'Nah, let me do it real quick.'"
Angel is also accused of robbing two different ice cream vendors around the same time. The victims were able to get his license plate number and police arrested him within the hour. He now faces seven counts of first degree felony aggravated robbery.
The victims say the two passengers in the SUV looked about 12-years-old. They have not been arrested.
