Restraining Order Extended Against Randy Moss

Read The Entire Affidavit

BOSTON (WBZ) ― Wide receiver Randy Moss wasn't be in court in Florida Monday; instead he was with the Patriots in Arizona as the team prepares to play the N.Y. Giants in the Super Bowl.

However attorneys for Moss and those for a woman who accused him of battery have agreed to continue a temporary restraining order she obtained against the New England Patriots wide receiver, according to Moss' agent.

A court hearing was scheduled in Broward County in Florida for Monday afternoon after Rachelle Washington, a friend of Moss for the last 11 years, obtained a temporary restraining order against him. Washington was seeking a permanent restraining order.

The temporary order required Moss to stay at least 500 feet from Washington. They described each other as longtime friends.
David McGill, Washington's attorney, did not return telephone calls seeking comment.

In court documents, she claims Moss committed "battery ... causing serious injury" to her at her home Jan. 6.

No criminal charges have been filed against Moss. He was not required to be at Monday's hearing.

Moss said the allegations are false and Washington made the claim to extort a six-figure settlement from him.

According to the affidavit obtained by WBZ, Washington claims she's been in an "intimate relationship" with Moss since 1997.

Washington's attorney claims Moss offered money first.

"The restraining order will be continued by agreement of the attorneys," Tim DiPiero, Moss' agent, said in a statement. "The parties won't be there."

Moss' attorney, Richard Sharpstein, said he would appear at the hearing on his client's behalf and agree to the continuation of the restraining order until both parties can appear in court or the matter is resolved.

"We have no contest over the restraining order given the current situation. He will stay completely away from her and has no desire to have contact with her," Sharpstein said. "He's in Phoenix busy preparing to win the Super Bowl and on a day like today his mind is elsewhere.
