In a salary cap-related move, the New England Patriots have released linebacker Rosevelt Colvin and rookie Oscar Lua on Tuesday.
Colvin, 30, has played in New England for five seasons after being signed as an unrestricted free agent in 2003. Colvin has played 61 games with the Patriots. Of those games, he started 39 times and recorded 203 tackles, including 26.5 sacks and one interception.
The 6'3" linebacker started 10 of the season's first 11 games before being placed on the injured reserve list after hurting his foot during November's game against the Eagles.
Colvin's contract calls for him to make $5.5 million for the upcoming year with a charge of $7.6 million against the cap.
