Wilkerson Pays Fine, Settles Dispute With A.G.
BOSTON (AP) ―
State Sen. Dianne Wilkerson has agreed to pay a $10,000 fine and forego about $30,000 in debts she said her political committee owed her to settle allegations of campaign finance problems.
Attorney General Martha Coakley says the agreement announced Friday will resolve problems dating back to 2000.
As part of the agreement, Wilkerson acknowledges failing to keep proper campaign records from 2000 to 2004 and operating her campaign committee without a properly appointed treasurer for two years.
Wilkerson also agreed to get rid of $2,200 in unlawful campaign contributions received between 2000 and 2006. She said in a statement that her committee has installed new policies to make sure the errors aren't repeated.
Former Attorney General Tom Reilly started the case against the Boston Democrat in 2005.
