House Speaker Orders Probe Of Lawmaker Threat

BOSTON (WBZ) ― House Speaker Sal DiMasi has ordered an investigation into allegations that one lawmaker threatened to hurt another during last week's budget debate.

Rep. Jennifer Callahan, D-Sutton, claims a male colleague who disagreed with her told her he could "really hurt her if he wanted to."

She has not publically identified that lawmaker.

But a House member who wished to remain anonymous stepped forward Monday and told the State House News Service it was Rep. James Vallee, D-Franklin.

The lawmaker said he witnessed Callahan and Vallee having a long conversation that ended with a hug.

Vallee was not available for comment Tuesday.
