Gov. Deval Patrick says he's "not happy" about
low poll numbers, but he says they're the price of tough decisions like signing a 25-percent sales tax increase.
The Democrat previewed his 2010 re-election strategy Monday by saying his two-and-a-half years in office have been marked by leadership that has been courageous, in the best long-term interests of the state and focused forward, not "backward."
He also says they would stand up when compared with decisions others have made as recession has gripped the nation.
Former Harvard Pilgrim Health Care President
Charles Baker, a Republican, is slated to officially enter the race on Wednesday.
Convenience store owner Christy Mihos is also seeking the Republican nomination, while
Treasurer Timothy Cahill is mulling an independent candidacy.
