The debate over two controversial holidays for Suffolk County employees isn't going away any time soon.
Senate Minority Leader Richard Tisei filed a new bill Friday afternoon to repeal
Evacuation Day (March 17) and
Bunker Hill Day (June 17), just days after a similar bill failed.
Eleven senators (5 Republicans and 6 Democrats) and 24 representatives (16 Republicans and 8 Democrats) already signed onto Tisei's bill.
The House and state Senate recently voted to keep the so-called "hack holidays."
Critics say the holidays -- celebrated in Suffolk County only -- cost the state nearly $5 million by giving state workers the days off.
Governor Patrick and the three men challenging Mayor Tom Menino - Michael Flaherty, Sam Yoon and Kevin McCrea have all called for the repeal of the holidays.
Both holidays commemorate events during the Revolutionary War.
Evacuation Day marks the end of the British siege of Boston, while Bunker Hill Day marks a key early battle of the war.
