What Is 'The Bluest State'?

WBZ-TV Political Analyst Jon Keller's New Book

by Jon Keller
BOSTON (WBZ) ― Massachusetts, of course, home to unparalleled Democratic Party control of federal, state and local political power. "Kennedy Country," the proud birthplace of modern-day liberalism, and the nation's foremost test kitchen for its agenda and political practices.

What else makes Massachusetts so blue? Sluggish economic growth that stifles opportunity and erodes the standard of living for working people. An insular political culture with tunnel vision that ignores the popular will and feathers its own nest when it isn't collapsing on innocent motorists. All of it driving worst-in-the-nation population loss as disgruntled residents vote with their feet.

"The Bluest State: How Democrats Created the Massachusetts Blueprint for American Political Disaster"? is my new book exploring what's gone wrong with our beloved home state, how its mistakes have poisoned national Democratic politics, and what can be done to salvage a generation's promise to carve out a "new frontier" of American political leadership.

If you've ever wondered why Massachusetts is the way it is, whatever happened to a generation's youthful dreams of creating a new type of politics, and how our blunders are affecting the Democratic party nationally, I invite you to read "The Bluest State." You may not agree with all or any of what I have to say, but I hope to provoke your own thinking and generate some useful debate.
